I’m a huge Barrack Obama fan. I’m glad that in my lifetime I got to witness him become president. Like him or not, his story should inspire you.

This isn’t a political post, so don’t go getting all triggered and angry on me. This is a post of lessons I learned from Obama over the 8 years he was in office as POTUS.

Obama reminds me of the new guy salesman with almost no experience that rises to top producer in the company in the first 90 days. Not only did he come in and dominate all the old dogs, he became the top producer and the most likable guy ever in office.

I’m going to share the top 5 sales lessons I learned from Barrack Obama. There’s no denying that he is a Closer. The guy got elected by a landslide and helped get the country back on pace to winning again.

Always Dress For The Sale:

Obama knows how to dress. If he was speaking in front of the media from a podium, he had a perfectly tailored suit on. If he was trying to get college kids to vote for him, he had cool swag on. If he was with the pro athletes asking for their support, he dressed like a ball player.

Lots of salespeople only wear suits, or only dress casual. Obama knew to dress like the folks he was selling to. Even when he went over seas to work trade deals out with other countries, he would dress in their traditional garb. Barrack knows that if you look like they look, they will treat you as their own and most likely do business with you.

Grassroots Market For Leads:

Obama’s team were the KINGS of cold calling and door knocking. I’ve never seen a presidential candidate work as hard to get leads (voters) as he and his team did. Obama was on a jet almost every day. He wasn’t afraid to go to the people and ask for what he wanted.

Barrack Obama came from a middle class family. He didn’t have a crazy ass marketing budget like his competition did. He didn’t have millions to spend on TV ads, Radio and all that expensive stuff. He and his team worked with what they had and what they had was the ability to get in touch with the people in the neighborhoods and cities they lived in.

Get Some Closers on Your Team:

It’s no secret that Obama is a massively inspiring dude. You may hate him right now, but if he showed up at your house and asked you for help, you know you’d do it. He built a team of people who were drinking the Kool-Aid.

Obama’s charisma is contagious. He recruited the best marketing team in the history of the world at the time and they were not afraid to do the work. Not only was Obama a Closer, he found some top producers and together they got America in love with his ideas and policies.

Set The Proper Tonality:

In my personal opinion, Barrack Obama is the greatest speaker in the history of the world. The dude knows how to sling some words! The average person doesn’t know that 90%+ of communication is tonality. It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. Obama is the best tonal speaker alive today.

You can tell that BO has put in his 10,000+ hours practicing the craft of speaking. Nobody does it like him. He’s proved to all salespeople that tonality is what makes or breaks a sale.

If They Like You They Will Buy From You:

In 2008 Obama’s competition was a lifetime government worker named John McCain. He had everything going for him. He was the typical “old white dude” that America votes for. Except he had one problem; he wasn’t likable.

Obama on the other hand is extremely likable.  He had no experience, no Washington inside help and was a total rookie outcast. Yet he dominated McCain by over 10M votes and damn near got double the electoral votes. People buy from people they know, like and trust. Obama proved that in a major way.

Whether you like someone or not, you can learn from them. I personally like Obama and learned a lot from him over the past 12 years. The dude can close! He’s such a closer he can even close on behalf of those who can’t close for themselves.

Take these sales lessons to heart and use them in your business daily. Obama did something that’s never been done before. He was a black man, with no inside help, no political cronies and everything stacked against him, who used his sales skills to dominate 2 elections. If you can’t learn something from that, you’re choosing to be ignorant.
