Before we start, I’m not here claiming I’m a genius or anything. Matter of fact, I know I’m dumb. Yet I smarter than almost everyone I meet. It’s pretty f#cking scary actually.
Being smart definitely has its advantages. Along with them though, are many disadvantages too. I know. I know. Here’s a middle aged white dude writing an article about how unfortunate it is that he’s smart. Spare me the need for pity. That’s not what this is about at all.
Let’s just agree that for the purposes of this article, the word smart means above average intelligence. In this context it doesn’t mean someone is brilliant, just smarter than than the average fella. Now think. For every person with above average intelligence there’s another person with average intelligence and another with below average intelligence. Even at this rate, they out number us 2:1.
What’s worse, is dumb people don’t know they are dumb, and they damn sure don’t know what a smart person thinks. However, smart people can spot dumb people a mile away. It’s an unfair, yet annoying advantage some of us have. Sometimes having an advantage isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
