Let’s face it… Rock n Roll is dead. Name a true rock or metal band that went platinum this year? None come to mind, how ’bout you? While Rock N Roll might be dead, there’s a new type of rockstar emerging on the scene. Entrepreneurs are the new rockstars. We sell out arenas. We are on video, audio, spotify, pandora and YouTube.
Much like any other celebrity segment, people want to know what it’s really like to live a day in the life of a rockstar entrepreneur. Some of the biggest online influencers get attention by showcasing their huge homes, fancy cars and exotic vacations. For most people, entrepreneurship looks nothing like that.
We joined up with Ryan Stewman, CEO and founder of 5 different 7-8 figure per year companies. He’s one of the most dialed in entrepreneurs online. He’s the admin of the largest sales group on Facebook, has over 500,000 online followers and lives what I would consider the real life of an entrepreneur.
It’s 5:30am, Ryan is up out of bed without an alarm. He immediately checks his phone. But not for messages or social media, he reads his core values out loud and says 5 things he’s grateful for. “Being in a constant state of gratitude is crucial to enjoying success” Ryan tells us. Ryan gets up, gets dressed and downs a quick protein shake before hopping in his Mclaren and going to his personal trainer’s gym.
At the gym, the trainer puts Ryan through what looks like a grueling workout for about an hour or so. Soaked in sweat, Ryan heads back to the Mclaren to head home and get ready for work. It’s 730am. Before he pulls out of the parking lot, he grabs his phone and types a post to his followers on Facebook. It’s something inspirational to give his fan base some motivational dopamine.
Ryan is showered, dressed and ready to roll by 9am. He heads to the garage and hops in his Rolls Royce Wraith and heads to the office in Dallas, Texas. Ryan arrives and parks in his reserved parking spot, right next to the elevators.
His office complex is one of the biggest in Dallas. Companies like Hilton, Google and Regus have their regional offices in this massive, 3 tower complex. Stewman’s company Break Free Academy resides at the end of a long hall on the 2nd floor of one of the towers. He enters the key code and walks in. The lights automatically come on and the studio goes live.
Through a closed door is what they call “the war room” where he meets his clients, has team meetings and does training videos. Attached to this room are 6 huge offices and of course the corner one, is Stewman’s.
As soon as he walks in he turns his internal stereo system on from his phone. “Music sets the mood” He goes on to tell us. He pulls up 2 monitors and an ipad to start work for the day. This guy lives by a calendar and is so focused on his time it’s unreal. Everyone in his office knows this and he goes uninterrupted all day long.
His morning consists of content creation. He shoots 2 videos, makes a post on instagram, records 2 of his daily podcasts and a training for his clients. He’s the master of one take. We never heard him stutter, need another take or even have notes. “I’ve been doing this for 10 years, I got a one take system down so it saves me time. Plus, if I mess up, we keep it, it makes it more real”
He sends his assistant down to get something to eat and drink for him, working through lunch.
In his office returning DMs, emails and phone calls, Ryan is a machine, crossing one task after another off of his calendar.
One client was struggling with fidelity issues at home. The client is making more money and in better shape so naturally the client was facing new distractions they had never faced before. “You need to know if you’re spouse is going to level up or not and what you are going to do if they don’t want to” he tells them
Another client was having the biggest financial year of their life but was overwhelmed with all that was going on in their life. Ryan lays down what’s called the “G Code” and tells them the 4 key areas to focus on daily so that overwhelm doesn’t sink in.
It’s really cool to see how approachable and real Stewman is. Online he’s a major hard ass, but in person he’s nice, quiet and super polite. I think a lot of his content gets misconstrued with the wrong tonality online. He seems to really care a lot about the people around him.
According to Stewman, the day’s sales count, which he still does himself, is $23,000 “slow day, but I had to spend time taking care of other things besides sales today”
At 5pm Ryan shuts it down and heads down the elevator and to the Rolls for the ride home.
When he arrives at his corner house in a stunning neighborhood, he pulls through is gate and parks the Rolls in the garage. His 3 boys scream at the top of their lungs “ddddaaaaaaaaadddddeeeeeee” and run to hug his legs. With a big smile on his face he says “what up fam?” and his wife Amy, blonde, beautiful and one hell of a cook, kisses him on the lips.
He plugs his phone in and focuses on hangin with the family. He gives a bath to the youngest and wrestles with the older ones. After they put the kids to sleep, the married couple enjoy conversation and a glass of wine with the TV on in the background. He kicks us out at 9pm sharp.
When we see fancy vacations, exotic cars and rockstar influencers online, what we don’t see is the time they commit to their job, their clients, their families and other important areas of life. If you look at Stewman, he’s his best example. The guy has major focus and does not let anything distract him from what he’s in the middle of accomplishing. He moves with machine like efficiency.
Being an Entrepreneur is a job, just like anything else. When you have a job, you gotta do the work. While I’ll take working for myself over working for anyone else. it’s a job. It’s not always glorious or the soundbites you see on Instagram, but success never looks like what we suspect it does. If you’re out there working your tail off to get ahead, this is a good daily model to follow. It seems to be working well for Stewman, why not duplicate it?
