I don’t know about your experience working in sales or being an entrepreneur, but for me, sales is more of a 24/7 lifestyle than a job. Because of that, working weekends is a regular thing for me.

Most naive people get into sales thinking it is a good way to make money Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. That could not be further from the truth.

The truth is your prospects have a 9-5 and they usually don’t buy until they are off the clock. This means after 5pm and definitely on the weekends.

Most people who fail in sales, fail to realize the obvious in the above paragraph, so read it again.

Your 9-5 every day is time to follow up, prepare, and prospect. Outside of 9-5 is where most of your closings will happen. Again, this includes the weekend.

So how do you still have fun on the weekends while working, and not get burned out come Monday morning?

Great question! (even though I’m the one who asked it lol)

Here’s the cold hard truth: You are gonna be tired, you are gonna get burned out, so you better get over that shit. There’s never enough rest, never enough time, and never enough money. These are 3 things we will be chasing for the rest of our lives.

I’d like to sit here and tell you about personal responsibility and not partying, staying out late, etc… But I’m not stupid, you work in sales, your tendency for compulsory is unmatched lol.

If you come home at 2pm on Sunday morning, nurse a hangover all day, then go back out Sunday night until 2am, you still gotta show up on Monday. Always know that no matter what you do on the weekend, you still gotta show up on Monday.

What I’m about to break down is for the 1%. Most of you can’t do this while rested up, but those who can and will, will be more motivated and energized than anyone else.

First, get out of bed by 7am. If you stayed out until 2am, you got 5 hours of sleep. That’s plenty. Grab some caffeine and get your ass to the gym. At the gym spend 10-15 mins sweating in the sauna, then get in a good cardio workout. Sweat, sweat, sweat.

Come back home, wash the sweat off in the shower. Shave, get cleaned up, brush your teeth, make your bed.

On the way to the office listen to a podcast like my Rewire show. Get your mind right and thinking bigger.

In the office force yourself to stay productive. Monitor your activity by the half-hour. Every 30 mins set an alarm to go off. When it beeps, ask yourself if you have been productive for the last 30 mins. This will keep you on track.

At the end of the day, instead of going back out again, go home and continue prospecting. Text, email, and DM your prospects in the evening, that’s when they are most likely staring at their phones.

Once you start making sales in the evenings, you’ll get your dopamine from that, instead of going out drinking. Trust me, I like to party, but I like closing deals waaaaay more.

If you’re gonna party, I can’t knock it. I have been there. Just know that partying and staying out late, cost you money. And if you’re 25 and it cost you $1000, that $1000 would be $50,000 by the time you’re my age. Can you afford to blow $50k a week staying out late partying? I can’t so I know sure as hell you can’t.

Think about it.
