Ever hear the saying “practice makes perfect”? I’ve heard it my entire life. My parents said it. My coaches said it. My employers have said it. I’ve always just taken it as the truth. A few days ago, my toddler’s karate instructor changed my mind.

Isn’t it crazy how you can hear something your entire life and then, 37 years into the game, someone can say it differently and it changes the meaning? I always tell people who come to my presentation, “You never know what you’ll hear me say. You can hear the same thing your entire life but what if I say it with a combination of words that unlock the clasp to mind and it all of a sudden makes more sense?” That’s called a hook.

Any way, I was with my son Jax at karate the other day and the teacher was struggling with one of the other kids. The kid was half ass throwing punches and kicks. Also, it’s worth noting that the kid was 6 years old, but he had the face and build of a 65 year old man. The kid was totally slacking. The teacher gave him some solid advice.

“You know the saying practice makes perfect? It’s kinda untrue. If you practice sloppy you’ll never play perfect”

Those two sentences got my attention and got me to thinking. This video is the byproduct of that thinking process. Be sure you share it and let others know that half ass practice will never lead to perfection
