In the last 3 weeks, I was at an event with Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger and Bill Gates. In case you are keeping score, that’s a combined $309 billion dollars net worth between the 4 of them. Jeff, Bill and Warren are ranked 1, 2 and 3 when it comes to the richest people in the world, according to Forbes magazine.
To say I was honored and blessed to be in the room with these guys is an understatement. Also, to think I just happened to stroll into these rooms is also an understatement. I worked my ass off to afford tickets to these events and to be a shareholder in the companies these guys all reside over.
Yes, I’m a shareholder in Berkshire Hathaway, Amazon and Microsoft. Most people don’t know this about me, but I’ve been investing in stocks for over 15 years. I attended a meeting with Jeff Bezos 3 weeks ago at SMU in Dallas, Texas. I took my 6 year old son Jax to meet the world’s richest man. It was amazing to hear how he thinks about doing business. His “2 pizza rule’ really opened my mind on how to stay small when you have over 600,000 employees world wide.
The following weekend, I flew private with 5 friends/clients to Omaha, Nebraska to the annual Berkshire Hathaway share holder meeting. I was in a stadium with 20,000+ other people who own the stock. It’s the Super Bowl of the financial world. Warren and Charlie did a 6 hour Q&A session with the press and shareholders. Bill Gates was there and he was elected as a board member of Berkshire.
