One thing many sales people lack, which causes them to blow sales, is the ability to uncover the subsurface need. Most salesmen attempt to sell and close based on surface needs and wants. That’s not where the sale is made. Ever. The sale is always closed by finding the problem and solving it.

People don’t share their problems with just anyone. Matter of fact, most problems cause pain for the prospect in one way or another. Humans will do anything they can to avoid enduring pain. Hence why people don’t share their real problems with us very often. A good Closer can get it out of them though. This video explains how it’s done.

Why Surface Selling Won’t Close Sales

Stop trying to sell on the surface and dig deeper with your prospects. If you show them you genuinely care about solving their problem, they will start to reveal what it really is, that drove them to the sales conversation that’s taking place with them. That’s the leverage you use to close them. The real problem.
